It was too cold for the pool, the sun barely came out and we were sitting on the beach in sweatshirts. Not her idea of SoCal! Welcome to San Diego, this will last for most of July if last year is any indication. We're already 1/3 of the way through and not a glimpse of sunshine in the forecast! Luckily, we were gone for the first 5 days of the month in a place with sunshine, gone for a good portion of last month, and leaving again in 2 weeks, so I don't mind it as much this year.
Well, statistically and anecdotally, SD summer is 'hot' during the last two weeks of August and the first two weeks of Sept. In fact, Sept and Oct are usually fantastic, with empty beaches, but warm enough to swim and lounge.

You can plan on that as a rule of thumb for the future...[my husband is a native, and i've lived here 8 yrs]. Invite your guests in late August or Sept. (:

The fall is my fave in SD, beachwise-I avoid the summer months. lol

Same thing with June, this year was much cooler than last year.
I agree-i was wondering what was meant by last year and this year being similar???...b/c I recall sweating last summer, for most of the summer-june, even back in May. And I'm so grateful this year to not have it start up yet.

Unlike others on here, I'm not enjoying this cooler weather. I'm a bike rider and have been wanting to ride my bike out to Mission Beach from Hillcrest but not in this cool weather. I like it when the sun is out and I can get a sweat on. Looking forward to the warmer months of August and September.
