When summer started, the word was that it would be a slightly warmer than usual summer. Obviously not 2+ weeks in, but I'm sure we'll get socked in August and September as usual. I'm looking on the bright side - - it has been awesome sleeping weather and at least it isn't the East Coast!

This is incredibly out of the ordinary - - I think we broke the record-low high temperature for the past four days. It is coming. Compared to the East Coast (where I grew up), summer starts later out here even in regular years. July was always the hottest month back East, but August and September end up being the most summer-y months out here.

It's our second summer here and it's just as bad as the first. I made the mistake of having my friend come here for the first 2 weeks of July last year, from the East coast, and she was not happy with the weather. It was too cold for the pool, the sun barely came out and we were sitting on the beach in sweatshirts. Not her idea of SoCal! Welcome to San Diego, this will last for most of July if last year is any indication. We're already 1/3 of the way through and not a glimpse of sunshine in the forecast! Luckily, we were gone for the first 5 days of the month in a place with sunshine, gone for a good portion of last month, and leaving again in 2 weeks, so I don't mind it as much this year.

YEAH GLOOM!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

I wish it would go on for another 8 weeks or even more, but it won't.

In a week the sun, heat, and 'humidity' will be here.

Enjoy the gloom while it lasts. I am!

I'm with you. If I could find a place that was perpetually between 55 degrees at night and 70 degrees in the day, I'd go there. San Diego is about as close as I've found (that still gets sunshine ). If it doesn't get up to 85 all summer, I'll be fine!

Last July, while cooler than average and below normal at the beginning of the month, was not nearly as bad as this year. We weren't setting record low-highs last year, just look at the temps last July and compare them to this year.

Same thing with June, this year was much cooler than last year.
