Oh, absolutely annoying! But he's still one of those "San Diego" things, for sure

John Coleman started the Weather Channel and I'm sure he made major $$$ on that one...hopefully he's laughing all the way to the bank!

Remember when the first Seaworld opened with shows but no rides except for a Hydrofoil on Mission Bay, the Hawaiian Punch Pavilion was a big draw, as was the mermaid show featuring lovely coeds from UCSD swimming with fish in a huge, glass-walled tank. I was 18 then and had just graduated from high school. We knew the family of one of the four who started the park so we received premier seating, often in the control booths for the shows. A fond memory of SD for this native.

When people who are really, really proud of their neighborhoods actually have bumper stickers on their cars to this effect (Scripps Ranch: A Lovely Place!),
When the word "Scripps" is in just about EVERY street name,
When you know not to even try the 15 after 4pm,
When you can't get across town in under an hour,
When you prefer Henry's to Jimbo's,
When you just roll with the fire evacuations every year and have a set list of "must-takes",
when you know to mute the TV til the jets have passed
when you live in PQ and wonder why the hell you just don't move to Phoenix, because it's just as hot and three times cheaper!!!
