I grew up in Chula Vista back in the 60's. We lived below Chula Vista High. I moved away and am retired now. Lately, I've been thinking of returning there but have heard that it is a pretty dangerous area.

Is that true? What is CV like these days?

It can be at times. It's ratted slightly above the Ntnl avg for crime for cities it's size.People on this form may tell you that CV or the whole South Bay is dangerous but do they work here?Do they live here?Have friends that live or frequent the area?Ask people that really live in the South Bay or Chula Vista.

I work in Chula Vista and the place does look a little shady in general but I don't think it's that bad. My coworker , who lives here said that the area has improved and it's a lot better these days than 20 years ago when he first moved to CV. Many of my coworkers live in Bonita however.

I've lived in Chula Vista twice before and will be returning there in September. I think the city gets a bad rap a lot of times. I've witnessed more crimes at the beach areas in SD than in Chula Vista.

I have been living in Chula Vista for the last 20 years. My nices, my child has graduated from Chula Vista High and we have never had any dangerous situation going on. I think Chula is a good place to live.

Chula Vista has bad areas like any place, however, there are some nice areas of Chula Vista too. I would hardly call it "dangerous" though. That's pushing it.

I'm from central NJ and have relatives that live in chula vista. When I've visited there, I found it pretty safe and pretty quite. Makes me even want to move to San Diego in general sooner than later. It's a very low key area to me. Trust me, Newark is most likely ten times dangerous than any of the danger areas if any in chula vista
