I was in the Mission Valley Target store yesterday, and and they had a sign stating that as of October 17, they would have a larger grocery department with meats and produce.

I'm assuming that they're now becoming SuperTarget stores. The Garden Departments are being closed, so I guess that's the area that's the grocery department is going to be in.

They are doing the same thing with the Target in Encinitas. Closed the Garden Store (which I miss terribly) to add more groceries, coffee shop, etc. Alot of their groceries were cheaper even than Stater Bros, but I wonder if they will keep their prices low once they expand.

Apparently the Garden Centers weren't bringing in a significant income to keep them open. They're doing this with all the stores.

The Target I work at(Chula Vista:North 4th&C) still has a gaden.Granted we might be the most ghetto/outdated Target in the whole County.

The garden center at the Mission Valley store sucks, anyway. The one on Sports Arena has a nicer garden center, but it's seemed really sparse the last year or so. I wonder if they've been phasing them out?

Who would want to deal with having to go to the mall to get groceries? I mean, I guess if you're gonna be there anyway... It just seems so much easier to go to whatever's in your neighborhood. Although I don't really buy much stuff from the regular grocery store anymore, so I may just be missing the appeal of the "super discount" stuff.

I don't buy much from the regular grocery store either, but I guess they figure if you're in the store already you'll do your grocery shopping there.

The garden centers are being phased out slowly. College Grove still has theirs, but I was told by the cashier, that it's being closed in September.
