List anything one new to S.D. should definitely avoid, whether a item, place, area, street, business, or anything whatsoever distasteful, dangerous, or a waste of time and money.

lol ^ yeah that's it. There is really nothing to "avoid" although maybe you shouldn't drive on the freeways during rush hour, but that's it.

The town soaks the tourists pretty good. Seaworld is ridiculously overpriced and many restaurants downtown aren't worth the wait or the money. Almost every restaurant with outdoor space in Gaslamp is only memorable for the amount of the check. Approached as a local though you probably don't have much to avoid.

Avoid La Jolla. Aparently there is a dress code requiring tourist to wear burmuda shorts, black dress socks, and white shoes. Please don't let this happen to you!

Yep, that surely wouldn't look good without a flowery Hawaiian shirt. Don't they sell those in La Jolla?
