Maybe it's a work in progress but it's definitely not ready for prime time as far as print quality goes. The fonts are smaller, some columns are shaded, and there are vertical streaks with no ink that render others unreadable. I gave up on trying to read Dear Abby. The new paper looks like one that has been left out in the sun for too long.

I can't say anything about the new print format (though renaming the paper the San Diego U-T smacks of desperately trying to sound breezy and hip--doesn't really work for me), but the online format is way better than before. I wasn't a big fan of the rotating image box. Glad that's gone.

I actually like the improved look of the paper, and the print I get are nice and dark and not faded. The smaller pages also help when not reading on a table.

One thing that really irks me though is that they never used to put the paper in order by section letter, and I still get my paper all mixed up ... you'd figure with the new larger section letters printed and the printing technology today they can assemble a paper properly.

I stopped getting the paper delivered when it didn't come on time. Now I only read it online and buy it on Sundays. It works out much better for me.

I only buy the Sunday version. I'm okay with the new design.

Is the homes or garden spots still in it?

That paper is so ridiculously conservatively skewed that it doesn't matter WHAT they do to change the image of it...

The Homes and Gardens Sunday section (once, just about the only actually decent part about the paper) is effectively gutted down to nothing; split between Saturday and Sunday, almost all ads for new developments with a couple of pathetic articles usually grabbed from some other publication. Very little local relevance any longer.

I think the new format sucks- seems like the hired a couple of high school students to slap together a paper. No renewal from us.

Hate the new paper design. I remember when there was a morning paper and an evening paper and we got both. Then just the evening. Now this. It's sad and I hate it. I guess my old age is showing.

That blows, my wife really liked those sections.
