SO 7 years ago I closed in my entry way ( 6.5 ft by 16ft.) required concrete pour, major structual 6"x16"x24' beams. and 900sf of re roofing. I did ALL the work myself except setting the beams, and being a contractor, i did everything to code, except get permits.
Now the house is in short sale and i DID disclose this in the sale. But the city has been hurrassing me for about a month and finally gave me till NOV 4th to complie. I have never delt with this situation be for.
If the house closes, does the new owner assume resposibilty? I need any and all advice, as long as you know what your taling about, thanks Scott

This is something that should have been explained to you by your realtor on day one. And they should have been in contact with the city on day 2. Send me a private message if you get in a bind and i'll give you(or your agent) my advice.

OP have you looked in Woodcrest or Belvidere Park ?
Both neighborhoods connect and have the style yard you want,no septic and natural gas available. I loved the oaks but I hated the raking. For that price you will probably be on the low side unless you get one that needs lots of love. But it would be worth it. Values just keep going up because of its proximity to downtown. Lions park in the center. I miss it there so much.

"i did everything to code, except get permits"..."but the city has been hurrassing me"....

What have they said ? Have they told you what you need to do to be compliant ? Have they been out to look at the work ? Have they said; "expose the work so we can see what you've done" ?

Cities, counties, states have different regulations, listen to the building inspector. I was in a similar situation in Yuma, I exposed 1 wall so the CBO could see what I done, applied for a retro-active permit for all work, paid my fine (which was as much as the permit fee), made corrections, passed inspection. Now 100% legal....ready to sell.
In dealing with the CBO, I found attitude, my attitude, was critical in the resolution process....

OP only has one post, and it was 5 years ago. I doubt he'll be chiming in anytime soon.
