... you are one of the few!
This new poll released today finds that San Diego is the second-most popular city where people said they would like to live, if not where they are living now. New York City was both most popular and least popular, so go figure what it all means.

San Diego has ranked fairly high on this poll for a while now. It may not be a city everyone loves, although obviously a lot do, but it's not one a lot dislike/hate either. Others cities like NYC, SF, and LA appear on both the most popular as well as least popular. Despite some drawbacks, like everywhere else, I think it's a great place to live and I miss it.

True, it's not as polarizing of a city as NYC or even LA, which people tend to either love or hate. For the most part, people love SD.

I love living here as well :-)

I thought this was pretty funny keeping things in perspective. SD ranked as one of the weather channels worst cities for traffic.

Smile San Diego is perfect

Coming from the colder Europe, San Diego seems like a paradise.

We have great weather all year, several beaches, no clouds, a booming bio-tech industry. I can't explain it, but I already feel better when I take a walk outside. When you ahve a stable, well-paid job, there is not much to complain.

Just three things could be better:
1. Public transit. 3 Trolley lines? Seriously?? In Europe a city with 3 million people would have at least 10 lines. Commuter rail is okay. But they all could need a higher frequency.
2. A more urban, walkable city
3. Smarter politicians.

SD is great place to visit but living here gets old pretty quick if you are a grown up and you want to live in a grown up manner, i.e.: no roommates, buy a home, raise a family etc... SD loses its attractiveness. It is a place a lot of people pass through but rarely stay.

I think this sentiment falls into the idea that San Diego is a great place to live, maybe the best in the country, if you can afford it. Many people can't, so for them, it sucks. But for those of us who are fortunate enough to make ends meet here, it's pretty hard to beat.

I'm a grown up, have no roommates (unless my husband counts!), 2 dogs and attempting to start a family. I come from the East coast and can tell you, SD has not lost its attractiveness.

The only reason people rarely stay is because they can't afford it. Think of me, as I walk my dogs on the beach in January and as you're shoveling piles and piles of heavy snow!

You know I've been to New York City and visited Brooklyn, had a great time but live there - No Way. Its just too congested, IMHO, expensive and way too much weather (cold). I'm a grown up with free will and I choose to live in a city of perpetual and natural beauty , and great weather. To have the privilege of enjoying those things it will cost and I willingly accept that because I can wake up everyday in one of the Nation's most treasured and gorgeous places.
Its okay to make the decision, based on your own set of circumstanced, to stay/live where you're currently at; and believe me its not disloyal to envy those who manage to live in beautiful locales and love it. But don't try to convince us our decisions to do so are immature!

I always thought of San Diego as a great city for families, much more so than most other west coast cities. I think what you might be referring to is the cost of living which, like most of Ca. is high. However, if you want to raise a family in a Ca. big city, SD is probably your best bet IMO.
