I would say Eastlake weather is close to Poway since they are both inland areas. Imperial Beach is coastal and the coast is always a few degrees cooler than further east. The difference is less noticable during the winter but is very much so during the summer. On some summer days it's scorching where I live (eastlake) and when I go to my mom's in North PB it feels at least 10 degrees cooler! On the upside, no marine layer in Eastlake, but there are some mornings of very heavy fog!

Eastlake is in what I would call the perfect weather strip (for me), which is 5-7 miles from the coast. That means you are far enough from the coast not to have foggy days during the late Spring/early Summer, and not too far inland to get blazing hot summers like in El Cajon and Escondido. Since it sits pretty high up, you can get some views of the ocean and get relief from the breezes. BUT if you are on the other side of a hill or sit in a valley, then it can just get plain hot like other inland areas.

That's what I was going to say. We had one a few weeks back, thunder and lightening, SCARY stuff! Before that one, though, I can't remember.

Well, whenever it rains, the kids at school rush to the classroom door or windows and yell "LOOK! IT'S RAINING!" and they stare at it. That tells you it doesn't rain much, or often.
