Hi all. In Need your wisdom.
I live in Oceanside and need to pick up my son from Long Beach airport at 9:30 pm tonight, Thanksgiving eve. Just recently moved to the area from Michigan so not sure about the traffic patterns and driving times.
What time should I be leaving Oceanside(I-78 and Melrose) in order to be able to reach Long Beach Airport at least by 8 pm? I would rather get there early and wait in a Barnes and Noble or something than have to be sitting in traffic at 8:30 somewhere on the I-5 or 405 and having an anxiety attack.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I think leaving at 6:30pm would be perfect. Google maps says it is 1 hour 11 minutes with no traffic. Take the 5 North to CA 73 (toll road about $5 but never any traffic), by the time you merge with the 405, traffic should have cleared up a bit.

Long Beach is an easy airport so no worries there.

You take the Lakewood exit for the L.B. airport, turn right, and the airport will be on your left. It is, indeed, the easiest airport ever. Reminiscent of small airports of olden days. If you take JetBlue to/from the L.A. area, that's the airport they use. Remember to have cash for the toll on the 73!

Thank you all. 73 was the best way to go.....It worked out just great. Took me just over an hour and half, but considering this is thanksgiving eve, I can't complain. And yes, I did remember to keep a $20 note handy for the toll. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
