Fencing works well, or even just a raised planter. You don't need anything more than about 2-3 feet tall. No need to electrify it. Simple to put together. Will keep all the basic urban critters out. A pellet gun won't even kill a rabbit and will not solve the problem permanently, you would need more like a .22 rifle and I'm sure you already know it's illegal to discharge a firearm in city limits.

If you can put your gun down and Google "predatory urine" you might find something that will keep the bunnies away from your garden without blood shed. Peace

Yeah. Whatever. We have FOUR dogs and all their pee (and chasing) has not stopped these 'dumb bunnies' from not only hanging out in our yard (which we don't care about) but they keep having babies in our bushes!!! Which again would be lovely, but our dogs keep digging them up and giving them heart attacks...it's a total nightmare.

Rabbits are an invasive species and if the populations get outta hand.... well do a search on the rabbit problems in Australia and you will see what they have to deal with. A pellet gun is your best friend in this situation. Isn't rabbit a delicacy?

I nearly forgot about this thread. I installed a chicken wire fence around my garden digging a trench about half a foot into the earth and then burying the chicken wire partially below ground so the rabbits couldn't easily dig under it. I put a metal stake every two and a half feet just to make sure it was sturdy enough so that they couldn't bend the fence or push their way over it. This seems to have worked as the garden is doing great especially with all the rain we've been getting.

Default Synergy

If anyone here is still having ongoing rabbit issues, I will come by and help you out at no cost if you are in central/north San Diego County and maybe in Temecula area. Contact me via in-forum messaging and we can make arrangements.

I have the same problem in my front yard actually. We have a nice brood of cotton tails living there and they are actualy quite cute and I like them! Unfortunately, they breed, something like 4+ times a year with multiples. SO, I invested in a .22 caliber air rifle.

My goal is, not to eliminate the population, remembering that I actually like to see them around, but to harvest and control so they don't eat everything!

My other goal is to NOT use poison. I'm not a fan of placing poison food in my front yard for many good reasons. One of which is I don't want to be part of any unintended wildlife poisonings. I would rather target (literally) the individual pest and be done with it.

Also, it is legal to use an airgun to handle pests on your property at least in San Diego County. There may also be individual city laws that apply, but I haven't heard of any.

Best of luck.
