I love Chicago hot dogs, but the closest I've found here are the ones at wienerschnitzel. Does anyone know of any restaurants in north county that sell good chicago hot dogs? I live in Vista, if that matters at all

Sorry, but I don't. I get the yearning for a Pink's hot dog in L.A. from when I was younger. When I can't stand it anymore, I drive up there and chow down on a couple and check out my old stomping grounds around Hollywood.

I'm sorry, I can't help with North County, but Lefty's on 30th in North Park makes a great Chicago dog (proclaimed authentic by my friends from Chicago!) if you're ever down South.

I think Wolffy's in downtown has them too. But everything else we tried there sucked, so I'm assuming the hot dogs aren't good. Lefty's is your best bet!

Yeah, Wolffys Pizza and dogs are the anus. Still cant figure out how that place is still around downtown.

Although the owner does have a cool dog when I used to him walk outside my old building.

Another vote for Lefty's hot dogs! Although I'm still a sucker for the $1.50 Polish dog/soda combo at Costco

Wolffy's claims to have Chicago style hot dogs. But they aren't like any hot dog I ever had growing up in Chicago. Same for their Italian beef. My guess is that Chicago is large and diverse enough that there isn't any one "Chicago style hot dog" nor any one "Chicago style Italian beef". My favorites in Chicago were from the little stand that used to be on Division street, or Superdawg up in Naperville.

There is one thing that makes a dog "Chicago style" - the salad in the bun. And, no ketchup!!! Tomato chunks, instead.

And here's another vote for Costco's dogs (not Chicago style, though).
