We lived in UTC our first year in San Diego too. If you need local area advice (restaurants, etc.) let me know..I'm very familiar with the area!

Thanks GratefulDeb. I thought of changing my screen name too but didn't know how. Then, I thought maybe I should keep the name as it reminds me how lucky I am.

I joined the forum after having a conference-call interview in which they promised to fly me over for an interview. And they did fly me over a week after that for an in-person interview during which I received the job offer on the spot. Then I arrived here safe and sound after a long drive from Houston. And it took me only a day and a half to find a place that exceeds all of my expectations! Everything flows so smoothly so without my screen name, I am afraid that I may take all of these for granted - which I don't want to. I would love to always remember how lucky I am and work very hard to deserve this wonderful opportunity!!!

Look forward to having you here, Just1Lion (or 1Kitty, one never knows ). What's holding you up? I read in another thread saying you "should have been here already grrrr."

well, i had a job interview in october 07, and was fairly confident that i would have landed it, but i was called for the interview the week of my wedding and was unable to fly out from NJ that week. they were not able to reschedule the interview and told me to reapply the next time a position was posted. soooo im waiting for an employment opportunity. i have some applications pending. my wife doesnt want to just up and move without a job lined up. shes alot smarter than me. i would quit my gov't job in a heartbeat and move out there.

Alas, No! We decided to hold off making any type of move. I will watch from afar for now - hope to be able to finance a move in a couple of years. I want to be able to afford to live there without either of us having to work and live off our Military and Fed Retirements.
For now I'll live the San Diego experience vicariously through you guys.

I know what you mean about everything flowing smoothly. After moving away from San Diego for 13 years, when I decided I just had to come back it was amazing how it all worked out. Applied for a job in Dec. Interviewed Jan 12. Got hired within the week. By Feb 12 we had sold our house (7 days on the market and 97%+ of the asking price) and were arriving in San Diego, both with jobs lined up that would start on Feb 19. We purchased a house before our new jobs started for $15,000 less than we had sold our Sacto house for and here I am, home again.
