Hello,

I am looking at relocating to San Diego and need some advise about where to live. I'm a 30 year old single female who wants to be close to the beach, good restaurants & nightlife (but probably not right on top of the nightlife.) I want to make sure that I live in a safe area, where parking isn't an issue and would be open to renting an apartment/townhouse/condo/duplex/ect. I have a 50 lbs dog I'll be bringing with me, so pet friendly living is important as well. I would be working off of I-15 and Scripps Powway Parkway. I'm used to about a 30 minute commute right now and would like to keep it somewhere around that if possible. I have friends who live in PB so it would be a plus to be near there, even if it's not right in there. I would be looking for a 1 brdrm (no studio) and would like to ideally spend 700-1000/month in rent.

I've done some research and have some general ideas of possible locations, but any suggestions you have for specific parts of San Diego to check out or avoid are appreciated as well as any other websites to look for places (besides the normal suspects when you google san diego apartments.)

Thanks!

Unfortunately, finding a place that will take a 50 lb dog might be your biggest hurdle...and limit where you will be able to rent. Alot of rentals here won't take dogs at all, and if they do, they usually limit the weight considerably less than 50 lbs.

Just keep looking, I found housing with two large golden retrievers, sure I had to pay $30 a month extra rent, but atleast I got to keep my beloved pets.

Do you have a job lined up? If not, have a substantial savings before you move.

We found the exact opposite to be true. We're on our 3rd year in San Diego and also 3rd neighborhood. We have 2 50lb. Bulldogs and have never had an issue finding pet-friendly rentals. We've found them in UTC, Hillcrest, and the College area so far without a problem. Just look around, you'll find them. We are one of the friendliest cities for dogs!

OP, check out this recent article about dogs in San Diego!
