Would you go to a dentist in Tijuana? I keep hearing about the lack of saftey in TJ. Bottom line, husband and I have both needed root canals in the last month at 1,000 a pop. Now we both need crowns at another 1,000 a pop! Since we have no dental insurance, Tiajuana is an option. Opinions, please and if you have any dentists to recommend, please do.

Many thanks.

Thanks, Moved. I took your advice and have now found the dentist I want to visit. My passport is current, but husband's is not. The dentist I spoke with said sometimes the border patrol will let him cross with a DL and birth cert, but sometimes not.

Any thoughts or recent experiences, anyone?

Which dentist did you decide on? Crossing with a DL and birth certificate can be risky. If you want to try it, I would check before you cross the border. I have a passport card for crossing the border. It cost $45, and it's good for 10 years. I filled out the application online, and applied at the County Administration Office, and it took two weeks to get it. It looks like a miniature passport, but it's the size of a driver's license.

I had no idea you could do that. Thanks for the info. When you say "risky" - do you mean it would be risky for him to get back to the U.S.?
