I disagree. You can find apartments and cottages in the city for less than $1000. Try North Park, Normal Heights, University Heights, South Park, and Golden Hill.

on padmapper.com I saw a few studios in La Jolla for around 1050. That is not a good location for the poster, but my point is it is an upscale, safe area with housing around 1000.00-certainly there are many options in less upscale, but still safe and desirable areas.
