We are going to San Diego to visit the city and beach. I would like to find an area of night life similar to the Las Vegas strip, San Antonio Riverwalk, or Myrtle Beach Boardwalk; does anyone know of a lively night life area like that in San Diego?

Yikes.....Riverwalk is awful. Reminds me of Old Town here in San Diego.....contrived, touristy Mexican Restaurants, blue hairs, etc.

In addition to the Gaslamp (which has it's share of tourists), check out Newport Ave in Ocean Beach and Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach. That should be enough nightlife for you to check out, each with a different vibe.

Only the Gaslamp compares in quantity and vibe to those mega-tourist spots like Vegas or Myrtle Beach, but there really isn't anywhere like that at the beach here. Our beach areas are not packed with a lot of highrises like many cities.

We don't have one "mega" area of night life, we have about 8 areas that get pretty popular at night.

I think that is to San Diego's credit, actually.

Vegas style clubs are downtown, like FLuxx, Stingaree, On Broadway, etc. None as big as the Top tier vegas clubs, but the crowds are comparable.
