I was on I-5 south at around 1 PM from Leucadia all the way down, I exited @ 56, but it was still going on when I exited.

CHP was running a major traffic break, about 10 CHP cars. I was at the very front of the traffic break, so I could see the whole thing. There were approximately 20 18-wheelers with blue trailers going down the freeway, first in a single line, then across all 4 lanes, probably 5 or 6 rows worth. And there was a black helicopter above that looked like it was filming the whole thing.

Anyone hear about this?

No, but if you or anyone else hears let me know. First the sherrif, DHS, Police and even TSA at the H st trolley yesterday (which incidentally is right next to I-5) and now this? There also seems to be a slight increase in military aircraft activity in the south bay as well. Between Border Field and North Island, I'm in the flight path. A lot of cargo planes.

There is a CHP incident website where you can look. If there is something still going on you will be able to see it. I'm not familiar with the area you posted about so I didn't know which location to look on the website.

I tried the CHP site, but unfortunately there was no "San Diego" in the drop down menu of areas.

I called the CHP dispatch today and got my answer:

They shut down the freeway "to film a commercial or movie". The dispatcher said she was not informed specifically which one it was, but that's what went down.

So if you see a commercial or block buster movie with about 20 big rigs with blue trailers going down an empty freeway, keep in mind, that I was sitting in the slow and go traffic that had to stop so they could film that stupid thing.

MTV is filming a season of "The Real World" at a house in La Jolla. I'm willing to bet this had something to do with it. 10 news said they wanted to keep the location on the DL. MTV was less than thrilled when 10 news showed up at the house with cameras lol
