There is a DE FACTO fast lane and people need to understand that before they think of doing 65mph in the far left lane that usually has cars traveling much faster than that. If you're doing 70 and someone is doing 65 in front of you in the far left lane, they should be the ones moving to the right, not you. Just another example of the lack of common courtesy on CA freeways.

Well, yeah, they *should*. But if they don't? How do you react?

Like I said, I frequently drive 75-80mph (when traffic allows!) on my commute and yes, this happens every once in a while. I just don't see the point of driving up someone's tailpipe just to teach them a lesson (which is also incredibly unsafe and puts you in danger just for the sake of making a point), or getting all angry and worked up about it. Some people are just jerks, it doesn't give us the right to be a jerk back- then you're just lowering yourself to their level. It takes a bigger person to just deal with the situation in a rational and calm way, and pass them on the right when it's safe to do so.

They should, in a perfect world. But they could argue they have as much right as I do to be in that lane following the speed limits, so I should be the one moving if I want to go faster.

You know what, slowpoke ? Why don't you simply MOVE over when you can plainly see someone wants by ?

And you can stop with the PC crap by the way as more and more people are getting seriously SICK of it. I am reporting what I SEE objectively out there. How is the truth bigotted...how in any shape or FORM can you honestly say that certain cultures do NOT driver slower then Americans. I'm challenging you to come here and sit by the side of the main road in this town for a few hours. THEN, and ONLY then can you come back to ME and tell me that I'm FOS and bigotted. Until then..you need to, as I said, ****.

Because California is the US version of Greece - desperately grasping for every dollar as their Socialist Utopia implodes from decades of overspending.

You might want to try fighting your ticket with this:

It worked for my wife a few years back when she got pulled over in that Racketeering, Urban Hell-Hole. Of course they've gotten much more desparate for money these days so who knows if anyone stands a fair chance there anymore.

I do somewhat agree with that but at the same time I feel people here in CA let others get away with too much crap without doing or saying anything in general and that just makes inconsiderate behavior worse; people either don't realize how inconsiderate they are being or realize they can get away with it without people doing anything about it. I guess it's just part of that CA "laid-back" mentality where people won't speak up or do anything about inconsiderate behavior because they don't feel it's worth addressing the issue. Maybe if more people were made aware of how rude and inconsiderate they are being then they wouldn't do a lot of the crap they do. And this goes beyond freeway etiquette too.

No, the left lane is for passing. They can't make an logical argument that you should go around them on the right. They can try to make an argument that you shouldn't go more than 65mph, but not one that you should be going around them on the right.

You put it perfectly. Thank you.

This trend of labeling the ones who complain about rude behavior as being the rude ones when it's actually the other way around seriously pisses me off. I call people on it every time I see it and I always get a look like I'M the rude one. WTF ever. seriously. it's whacked.

I agree, I wouldn't have to be a rude jerk if some people weren't an inconsiderate a*s to begin with. It's a two way street and too many people don't realize that.
