Hi, it looks like most of the jobs applicable to me (according to monster.com) are in this area. I hate long commutes so I'd want to live <= 45 min.

I'd like to be able to get to the ocean and parks in a reasonable amount of time as well, but assume prices go up as you head towards the shore.

A 1 bedroom apt. is all I need and would like to keep the rent around 1,200. I'm poking around rent.com but they mostly reference neighborhoods.

So, neighborhood-wise, any suggestions? I have a pretty laid back lifestyle - more yoga than yuppie, but mostly would like to avoid as much noise and crowding/chaos as is possible around there.

Thanks,
Dan

That area is pretty. . . .woodsy, nice homes around Miramar Ranch Elementary School. Light industrial area just off the freeway.

quit, bland, shopping close. Utterly charmless, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Mira Mesa, Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, University City, Rancho Penasquitos, Tierrasanta,- very close neighborhoods, a little more "bland" yes, but not far from anything and affordable. Poway and Santee are a little more inland, warmer areas, but not far from your work and are more rural. You'll have to get in the car to go to the beach. Beach areas will have more traffic and crowds indeed, as will areas close to downtown and Mission Valley. Look for something with easy freeway access to the 163/15/52 and you're ok.
