Hi all, we are a family of 3 planning moving to San diego in the next Jan, having a trouble finding a area , we wont be having a car for around a month, we want a area that is close to most of the stores for basic needs and shopping stores, affordable rent, around 800-1000 per month for 1 room ,1 bathroom. Also i wanna know what does the area call near the mira mesa college.
thanks.

The area near Mira Mesa college is called Mira Mesa. It's the eastern part of Mira Mesa (which goes all the way west to I-5).

North of Mira Mesa is Rancho Penasquitos. East of Mira Mesa is Scripps Ranch. South of Mira Mesa is Kearny Mesa.

But I don't think any of these areas is going to have a 1 bedroom/1 bath for $1000.

Thanks , I am confused with Mira Mesa and Mira Mar, do they mean the same area?

Miramar is directly south of Mira Mesa. It's the Marine (formerly Navy) Air Station.

Do you have a job lined up already? If not, bring a very large savings with you to hold you over until you find one.

San Diego is expensive because it is one of the most desirable places in the country to live. As we say on this board, "Everyone wants to live here!"

I presume there is some reason why you are interested in Mira Mesa because it is a very auto-centric area. If you move there you need to be very watchful that any apartment complex is near a grocery store. Otherwise you could find yourself schlepping bags of groceries very long distances.

If there is no particular reason why you need to be near Mira Mesa College, I would suggest a neighborhood like Normal Heights. You should be able to find an apartment in your price range, and there is a grocery store and lots of small shops within walking distance.
