I just came back from lunch at the In-n-Out in Carmel Mountain Ranch in front of the old Mervyn's location. The parking lot is fenced off. It looks like they're removing all the parking lot islands. It also looks like the fascia on the front of the store is being ripped down. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of what might be going in.

Good to see someone take interest in the space, although it will just be trading one vacant location for another when the Sears Essentials next to it closes.

Mike

Nordstrom Rack is taking up half of the old Mervyn's space and is suppose to open after Summer.

Sweet. That Mervyn's has been vacant at least for the past 2-3 years, since I've lived in PQ. Too bad Sears is leaving as well.

I swear, the only new tenants are those part time Halloween shops and some stupid Bar Method place that moved in next to Panera.

BTW, I tried The Habit Burger Grill (new burger joint near CMR Rubios) recently. I swear that their hamburgers are better than In-n-Out's.

The Habit Burger Grill - San Diego, CA

Try it.

Pretty darn good. Better than In-n-Out? Apples and oranges IMO, but all good. Habit is surprisingly cheap, especially when compared to places like Smashburger (WAY overpriced).

It is a little more expensive than In-n-Out, but less waiting and better burger quality, IMHO. Maybe $6-7.

I think they replaced a BBQ restaurant at the same place.

No, that place is still there. It's next door. They replaced Cheeburger Cheeburger.

A step up for us consumers, IMO. I found Habit burger (we went to the one in Mission Valley) to be a bit more luxurious than an In 'n Out burger. I'm happy to have access to both.

DH tried Smashburger. He said it wasn't very good value, especially for the price.

Yes, looks like that's the case.

I haven't yet tried Smashburger for Five Guys. A lot of talk of both those places.

So, I went to Habit Burger Grill last night. Here's what I got for about ~$7. The drink selection is good, too. They have this pomegranate drink which I chose.

Forgot to put the flash on my phone camera.
