ks0811--I just wrote you a nice long response, only to discover that somehow I deleted it before it could post.

Rather than re-type everything, let me offer that I'm happy to answer any questions that you might have about the area, as I know it very well (as someone who grew up in the RB/Poway/PQ/CMR area, and went to PUSD schools for middle school and high school), as well as many other parts of SD).

Please feel free to private message me (or just reply here and I should see it).

Good luck in your search

-KMD

Haha, MCHS class '96 and I remember the broomstick incident. However, if the OP has children and has a choice between Escondido and Poway/RB - then I would choose Poway/RB. Better schools and likely closer to his work if he said San Diego. Although, you can get more house for your money in Escondido - my personal opinion would be to take less home for your money in Poway/RB and more piece of mind with the better school system.

Seems as Escondido is unsafe? Then what is the Best City in the area for a home on an acre or so? Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Vista, San Marco or ???
