I am anticipating relocating my family to one of the above areas in San Diego County. I have 2 small children and schools are important , safety and quality of life. I am looking at the following apartments HIdden Cove Apartments, Artesia Escondido and Summerlyn in Poway. Does anyone have any advice for me.. I am not familiar with the area and will be there in a few weeks to investigate. Thank you for your help.

If schools are a concern, you cannot go wrong with Poway Unified School District (PUSD). Rancho Bernardo and Poway are both within PUSD.

I will be working in San Diego and don't mind the commute. I am really concerned about schools and I see that Poway has a very good school system.

Poway has the advantage over Escondido of being within the Poway Unified School District. They have, overall, better schools than the other school districts around here. I don't know how the schools are that serve that part of Escondido.

Both of the areas you're looking at seem like OK areas. The Escondido one is closer to a shopping/industrial area, and the Poway one is a bit more residential.

Thank you for your help. I have been reading a lot of bad news here about Escondido and crime. I am moving from overseas and I haven't lived in the US since 1999 so a lot has changed since.

The center of Escondido seems run-down and possibly unsafe. The area of Escondido you're looking at isn't central. It's west of I-15. Other than being on the edge of shopping/industrial, I don't know anything else negative about it. (Again, I don't know anything about Escondido schools).
