So how is the nightlife in San Diego? I plan on being in Southern California for a few days early next month and am curious to know how the night life compares in San Diego to Los Angeles. I'm 26 and will be traveling with 2 buddies... all college educated, preppy, regular guys. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Let's be frank here, what are you really asking about? The quality of the nightlife? Or the easiness of the girls?

Kettlepot, I would never mind hooking up with a good looking girl (I am single), but my main objective is to go out and celebrate a friend's birthday.

Reminds me of a T-Shirt sold at a head shop when I went to SDSU many years ago, captioned "San Diego at Night". It was all black.

There's the Gaslamp District, downtown, which is fine for an evening. But you're young enough to appreciate Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach. Which at least has periodic loud, annoying clam-bakes punctuating the perpetual festival del chorizo. Wear a casing.

Are you saying there are a lot of guys in San Diego?

Someone else mentioned this, but I don't see it.

He called San Diego, "Man Diego."

San Diego is Man Diego. If you go to PB, all the average chicks think they're hot because you have all the meatheads, jarheads, and flatbillers hitting on 'em left and right. Most PB girls are good from far, but far from good.

We don't fit into any of those descriptions haha My only experiences with California nightlife have been in the Marina district in SF and I had a great time there.

I think San Diego has great nightlife.
If you're looking for a club atmosphere, I hear a lot of good things about Fluxx and Boudoir. Both of these are in downtown San Diego.

Bub's at the Ballpark is a popular sports bar that's always packed with people.

Pacific Beach will have a younger scene, as was mentioned earlier.
