Please give me your input on San Elijo hills area regarding the neighborhood, schools and the area in general. What are the pros and cons of living there?

The link did not work for me. Just a mention.
But, I don't know anything about SJ Hills, other than nice, upscale suburb with well regarded schools. Also, I think the neighborhood has won some national awards for design/lifestyle?

OP: Have you searched the c-d forum yet for threads on SJH? I'm sure several will come up.
Good luck!

I have lived here for the past 7 years. It is a great family oriented community..with a lot of walking trails and good elementary/middle school. I'm not as happy with the high school but they are currently building a new one..

PriscillaL - can you please comment on the weather/temperature especially during summer? Although it does not seem far from the beach, does it get in the 100's and does it get humid? I keep reading that inland gets hot and just curious what it is really like.

When will the new high school be complete?

The average high for San Marcos during the hottest month of the year (September) is 81 degrees and the average low is 65. It rarely gets to past 100 and I would consider anything past 90 a heat wave. SEH has good breezes and is close enough to the coast to have cooler temperatures without the marine layer. San Diego in general does not have high humidity. The fact that we only have thunderstorms 2 or 3 times annually is a testament to that. We have to worry more about low humidity than high humidity.

San Marcos High School is currently being rebuilt because the original school dates to 1961. There is an on-site interim campus, which has caused some problems. However, the only reason the temporary campus is on-site is because many parents complained about moving it off-site, which was originally planned. I believe the campus will open in phases, while the entire facility will be open in January 2014 for the new semester.

Here's a long post about San Marcos:

I went to SMHS, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask! There are good and bad things about the school~

Thanks rhanifin. How long it takes to go to San Diego zoo, and other attractions in downtown area from SEH? Can you please tell us about the schools?
