Well you have a lot to chose from. You will have to narrow it down a bit and probably include how much you want to pay for a 3 bedroom. There are a lot of family neighborhoods, too many to list or consider at this point. San Diego is a very large metro area and spans much wider than most people see when they vacation here. It is not as big as D.F. if thats what your used to; but big enough to narrow your search.

Where in San Diego will you need to commute to/from?

There are plenty of family friendly places all over the county.

OK, starting at this page: //www.city-data.com/city/California.html
the cities near to San Diego are:
San Diego
Chula Vista
Escondido
Carlsbad
Oceanside
Coronado
Poway
Rancho San Diego
San Diego Country Estates
Valley Center

For the neighborhood maps within San Diego, look here: Community Profiles | Planning Division

Schools are good in Poway and Carlsbad. Also Coronado, I think. They are uneven in other areas. Most San Diego neighborhoods are good for families.

It would be useful if you could tell us where your job(s) will be, so we can help you avoid long commutes. And, if you see a neighborhood you think might be good, tell us which one and we'll describe it for you.
