Default Balboa Park Perimeter

HI! Since Im posting on here I thought that I would chime in and give my opinion on this. I recommend staying close to balboa park perimter as much as you can within your price range. I love Golden Hill and think that you could find something for 1200. try to stay on the side north of MLK freeway but if you spill over a little you will still be fine. That is a very broad stroke generalization but good to start. Bankers hill and cortez hill are also good choices but less for your money and planes are much louder...i know from firsthand experience on all of those places! good luck!

I'm planning to move to San Diego California with my son, and I'm looking for a house that could rent a room for both of us not so expensive of course to stay for a few months till I found an apartment, does anybody knows about places like that in San Diego. I would really appreciate the information.

The best place to find rooms like you're describing is going to be Craigslist. You can get a sense of what might be available here: https://sandiego.craigslist.org/search/roo

However, it may be challenging to find a situation where both you and your son could share a room. Since you're looking for more of a short term situation, I suppose you could also check into airbnb rentals and see if you could negotiate a longer stay at a reduced price. Some airbnb hosts are willing to do that. https://www.airbnb.com

The other option would be extended stay hotels. There are extended stay hotels in many parts of the county, so that might be worth looking into as well to give you a place to stay until you find an apartment. (There are also Single Residency Occupancy hotels downtown, but they likely will not allow a child/teen to stay).

If you're looking for suggestions on areas that might be good to look in, you might get better replies if you start a new thread of your own. When you do, be sure to specify your son's age, how much you expect to pay each month, where you'll likely be working, and any other requirements you have (for example, will you have a car, or will you need to rely on public transportation?). The more information you can give, the more people here will be able to give you recommendations.

Also, remember that when people talk about "San Diego" they are often referring to both the city of San Diego and the county of San Diego. The city itself is quite spread out and the county itself is even more spread out. You might want to read through some of the older threads here about families who have moved to San Diego County to get a sense of where things are, and what types of areas might be a match i for you and your son. Then, ask about those areas that sound interesting to you in your new thread and you'll get lots of information and opinions (treat all opinions with a grain of salt. Where you decide to live should not be decided by a bunch of strangers on the internet. That's especially true when those strangers tend to think that they place where THEY live is the only place worth considering -- LOL).

Good luck with your move!

A good rule of thumb is stick to the touristy areas...more eyes on the street, ya know.

Golden Hill Is a ok close to South Park Downtown North Park and National city near the Military base and Coronado Bridge. You can find a one bedroom or a small home for 1300 and up but nothing central will be cheap in want a home. We have a one bedroom in Hillcrest on Park Blvd great area good food plenty of community events but depends on what you want to sacrafice
