I hated Mission Valley when I live there. Chula Vista was much nicer. I can't stand the heat. Anything above 75 renders me inactive.

You would like Alaska.

For us living inland in Poway is ideal as we can enjoy the warmth and get to the beach when it's sunny. Working in Encinitas these days where it is pleasant but cool........that decision is confirmed.

What she said.

But, all in all, I just love me some California...

What San Diego has to offer is 5 miles or less from the coast. Outside of that you could live anywhere in California. Northern California has the same marine layer that keeps coastal areas cool. Inland suburban areas are generally generic and homoginized up and down the state.

Its why its more expensive. People pay for a high of 75 degrees versus a high of 95. Who wants to sweat? And it makes sense that people would pay a premium.

I *love* 80 degree weather. Actually, my happy place for daytime temps is 70-90. But I really like my spot in North Park. It's generally warmer and sunnier than the coast during May Grey and June Gloom (with the exception of days with a really heavy marine layer, in which case the whole county is overcast) and cooler than the inland areas in the summer time.

Exactly. It's like I tell everyone who complains about how expensive it is to live here and how in name your random city you can get a four bedroom house for the price of a condo here.

Sure, I say. But you'd be living in that random city, dealing with freezing temps in the winter, and months of hazy, hot, and humid temps in the summer.

Do we pay a premium to live here? Absolutely. And it's a premium I'm happy to pay.

And you pay a premium to live close to the water, but it's so worth it.

tony I totally agree with you and all the others on here regarding living near the water just as much as I would agree with someone moving their kids to a top school district in said area (Poway Unified etc). The coastal weather cant be beat and yes there is definitely a price to be paid for that unique oppt to live in the bubble.
