Glad you're enjoying the winter wonderland up on Whidbey, AADad. It sure looks beautiful. Does snow/cold affect the ferry schedule to work at all?

No but the winds can and do alter ferry sailings.

We really liked Whidbey when we visited our friends there last summer -- you live in a beautiful part of the world!

Best wishes to you and your family in 2018, AADad.

Consider mid-highland East Africa, such as Nairobi. Monthly highs/lows average between 50 and 80F year round, and there is no extended dry or cloudy season as on the American west coast.

Southeastern Australia is not bad either.

My wife and I were there a couple of years ago in Winter and reminded me a lot of the SD area.

Africa is on our list too! My parents are going this spring and my husband and I are quite jealous.

I would say SD has the best climate in the USA for sure. Oakland and other areas of the Bay are arguably as good if you prefer a bit cooler and greener and don't mind some rain.
