The last thief destroyed the sticker... there was not enough left for me or the thief...

Ours already come perforated to prevent theft. I thought they were all like that. Good advice.

Ours in California are one-piece. How do you stick it onto the license plate, if it comes pre-scored?

From CA DMV...Vehicle Registration and Title Information
I did not find a limit on the page of $200.
My experience in the past is a 4 year expired car owes over $700 in fees. Each year owed plus each years late fees.

Perfectly legal! Very unlikely to ever be on the road again but legal.

In fact if a auto was non-op before the non-op fee was based it is exempt.
This would be mid-70's or so.

The dmv is so greedy its unbelievable. They nail you big time if the tags are not paid on time. A non op used to be 5.00 & then it went to 10.00 & 15.00 & now 18.00. Its crazy that you gotta pay a fee if you're not going to renew your tags.

Very carefully. It peels off the paper much easier than off the plate. Come to think of it, it might not actually be perforated, but possibly made of a material designed to tear when removed. Every one I've ever had to remove has torn, almost as if by design. I thought for sure they were perforated. We also have our license plate number printed on the sticker.

The guy I spoke to said that [for example] if the vehicle has $2000 in fees, the buyer would be responsible unless the seller agreed to pay them. If there was such a limit, I don't think he would throw out an arbitrary number [without stating there is a maximum].

The dmv is extremely greedy & their is no max on unpaid tags. I failed to get a non op on my Tbird & now the fees are much more then the original $80.00 a yr. I think they are now around $400.00 +. The state makes alot of money with late fees & penalties.

Don't be late on your registration and there won't be any late fees or penalties. It's right there on my registration renewal. If I screw up and renew after the deadline, I can see the escalating fees. If I wait until August to renew, it goes from $137 to $209 and the only person I have to blame is me.
