I'm moving to California in August or September. I'm an automotive technician by trade, but would be willing to work a general job like fast food, retail, etc.

Does anyone know the outlook of San Diego v.s. Los Angeles? If it matters, I'm 25.

The reason I want to move to the west coast is because I grew up with the beach, warm weather, and palm trees and am currently living in Cincinnati, OH and I just can't stand how different Ohio is from the place I grew up. I don't like the midwest. I want to go back to an environment like the one I grew up with.

LA seems to have a better job market.

Depends on your skills, high end techs can do very well here, it is car culture and lots of people have very expensive cars here. If you are good with euro cars, have certifications, I would imagine you would be in huge demand. LA would probably just have a lot more of the similar type of opts, it is a larger job market.

If you are more on the general labor side of automotive then I would imagine LA has thousands of more of those opportunities, but also I'd imagine tremendous competition for a very battered job market and very low pay

My experience is bigger cities have more job openings but lower quality of life. San Diego strikes a nice balance between the two.
