So many bars have such loud music! Sometimes it's hard to even hear yourself think, let alone the other person. So what are the best bars in San Diego for sitting down with someone and having an enjoyable conversation? Bonus points if there is outdoor seating.

Probably your own, set up in your yard or patio.

I've never been in a bar in San Diego (or anywhere else, for that matter) that wasn't too noisy for conversation. Heck, even Starbucks is too noisy for conversation.

Try one of the wine bars. Wine steals in Point Loma has a nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating.

The Lion's Share, Noble Experiment, Alchemy, The Stout, Counterpoint, Candelas (Coronado), Mosaic...those are some more quiet bars off the top of my head.

In uptown, South Park, The Rose wine pub is a nice and generally pretty quiet little bar, friendly staff and good food too. It's not outside but it's an all glass storefront and feels very open.
