Hello,

New member to the forum, but have ended up here through Google many times.

I'm in the process of purchasing a home, my first. I found a house I loved in Redwood Village on Celia Vista Dr. It has a great backyard with a very nice view, house is nice and upgraded and well taken care of. The neighborhood doesn't feel too bad, but it's definitely not one of the nicer San Diego ones.

The house I liked seems the be the best house on the block though.

Anyone have any opinions about this neighborhood?

Thanks!

Hit and miss, what you see is what you get. Nice views and some nice homes. Kind of a main street, lots of turnover, but it's fairly quiet especially as you go back into the 'hood and away from university ave

Thanks Sassberto. That's what it seems like. I gotta do some more research of the area. When I first drove to it I remember feeling like the neighborhood was great. I was coming back from Academy Heights and went through some nice commercial areas on University in La Mesa. I guess once you go into San Diego and go south of University, houses are not as pridefully owned as you'd want in a neighborhood.

What does the saying say? Good house in bad neighborhood is not good?

Hi Motoridersd,

We're in the same situation. Did you buy the house? Do you like living in the neighborhood? Any other insight you'd like to share?

Thanks!

I did! I've been living there for almost 6 months now. After buying I discovered that I am actually in Rolando Park and not Redwood Village. Google Maps doesn't label it properly. Most of my neighbors are older and retired. They are all very nice, and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. Some front yards are eye sores, but I see some slow turn around.

I've found some very nice houses a couple of blocks away. Cul de sacs, like mine, seem to have the better kept houses.

I thought you might be in Rolando Park since I live in Rolando Park. It's quiet, safe and I have found our neighbors to be really friendly and helpful. We moved here 5 years ago. One of my pet peeves is that maps often do not show us. I was President of the Rolando Park Community Council for a couple of years. This is a neighborhood with some people who get involved and really care about quality of life. My current goal is to bring some cute shops and dining places to University between College and the Kroc Center. Started planning that in January, then got really sick in February and but need to get back on it now.

Thats great to here skeke, had no idea you were on the Comm Council there. Definitely Rolando Park is getting better and better every year it seems.

The College Area has their 'Taste of' in a couple of weeks too!

I hosted a home for the College Neighborhoods Foundation Home Tour today. It is great fun and you get to see some lovely homes on the tour. This year the tour was in El Cerrito.

Reviving the area between College and the Kroc center would be great for the community! Hope you're feeling better! I get the community newsletters but have not gotten involved with anything yet.
