This lil guy was no bigger than a larger Thrush! Plenty of Lizards to keep them growing.

We watched a Red Shouldered Hawk take out a crow the other day! Crow was squaking and dive bombing the hawk. He finally had enough and it only took one powerful hit. Hawk:1, Crow:0

We have a few chickens and there is a pair of hawks that live near a reservoir water tank one hill over from us. Those bastards already got one of my chickens, it was actually my 5 year old son's 3 month old pet chick. Poor kid witnessed it being torn to shreds by those nasty hawks in the back of our home.

That whole week I had the "circle of life" Lion King song in my head. Poor kid.

Every afternoon from noon to about 3 they circle the sky in search of food. Oh well, its nature.

Oh wow, those buzzards usually only hang out like that when there is something dead to be had, and for that many it has to be something big. Interesting.

The coolest wildlife at my house: barn owls nesting in a Mexican fan palm, and morning doves nesting in a hanging swordtail fern. Also through our 21 years of residence: ground squirrels, possums, rabbits, frogs, salamanders, coyotes, bobcats, great horned owls, hawks, skunks, a chicken the size of a collie dog, a peacock, parakeets, cockatiels, gopher snakes, alligator lizards, a scarlet macaw, black widow spiders, various other spiders the size of my thumb, finches, sparrows, hummingbirds, ravens , I'm sure there is more. Oh, and lots of ants.
