I was told summers here were mild here in San Diego. Now...in the 30th day with temps around 90 I am beginning to wonder. btw it's 77 at the coast at 0800.

Any previous trends like this for you long time residents?

It is a pretty normal year except for some of those hot days in June. The last couple cool summers were the odd ones.

Hot weather is typical for August, Sept, and October (that's really our summer). What is unusual this year was the prolonged monsoonal humidity. We usually get it for a week or two and then it breaks, it lasted a lot longer this year.

Then I guess it must be cuz we are on the border of Sabre Springs/Poway. Last summer we had a few days but this year it's been >90 nearly every day for a month. That humidity (still here but less) was "interesting".

Ya, we typically get monsoons for a few days at a time a couple times a year but we did get a dose this year. Wait until you get to feel 100+ in Feb!! It feels a lot hotter because you are not accustomed.

It's amazing how much hotter it gets once you pass I-15. We have friends that live over in Poway and from our house to theirs the temperature gauge on our car can be a full 10 degrees higher over at their house vs. ours even though it's only a few miles.....

When we drive to friends in Santee once you pop over the ridge on the 52 the needle starts to climb. Usually a difference of 15 degrees.

AA, this has been a warmer summer than I remember being here almost a decade.

"Inland" temps can vary widely once you go past the 15/805 in various parts of the county so its really tough to average out and say 'this is what its like past the 15' per se.

Poway, El Cajon and Santee sit in valleys so, it can get a bit toastier there vs some other inland areas that might be sitting in canyon. The PQ canyon gets great breezes blowing through from Del Mar, its like a wind tunnel! However, if you dip down or are blocked by the breezes, you can feel that heat come through.

I think its great to have such variation and have had no problems being a bit above coastal temps.
