Any backroads from SabreSprings to Torrey Pines (Poway, Del Mar: homes, bike)

Still investigating commute times...seem like a couple homes just slightly east of 15 in Sabre Springs. But, figuring that's still a 25+ commute time (during rush hours) unless there are convenient backroads over to the 5 (we're trying to avoid the 56)

There are a couple that cut over to pch but frankly, they all suck. It took me an hour to go 8 miles!!! I could have jogged faster.

The few times I had to go in that direction in the mornings, I drove Miramar Road. It was congested near the 15 and the 5, but flowed pretty well in between.

You can avoid the 56 and Mira Mesa by going:

Scripps-Poway Pkwy to Black Mountain Rd.->Capricorn->Camino Ruiz->Calle Cristobol->Sorrento Valley Rd.

Or bike the 56 trail.

edit: This will still take you 25+ minutes.

I took that route this morning on my scooter. It used to be illegal to make that right turn onto Capricorn from Black Mountain in the morning, but it is allowed now.

If there was a back road - everyone would be using it. The reason there is so much traffic on the 56 west is because there are no other roads to the Torrey Pines/Del Mar area.

You could do the Miramar thing, or the Mira Mesa to Sorrento Valley Rd thing, but by the time you did that, you'd still be looking at the same 25 minutes of commute time as you would be sitting in the slow and go on the 56 in the morning.
