Was at Scripps Pier yesterday where the water temp was probably 70 degrees. Not as warm as in August, but it still felt awesome.

OB was MUCH better today than yesterday's 66. I didn't check the official temp at the lifeguard station, but definitely 68-70. Great conditions all round for swimming and (for me) body surfing. It was so stinking hot today I nearly had my clothes off in the garage the second I got off my scooter. Thankfully for my neighbors sake, I made it inside and put on a swim suit.

Arrgghhhhh.........the weekend can't come soon enough! What about the lack of crowds and available parking at the beaches? Gotta love it

Obviously we went swimming today given the high air temps.the water was chilly! I'm trying to hone my guessing skills so I can give accurate reports here. I find the most accurate to be at the lifeguard station over that of weather underground. Anyway today I guessed 66, and then checked at the lifeguard stand 65! So this only verifies what we know- continuous high air temps don't have as much impact on water temps as the east coast. Regardless there is indeed heat relief here on the coast.

I've posted this before, but here's a good visual check of the temps. Updated very 12 hours or so, but gives a good idea of what the region looks like: Terrafin SST-View Free SST Images - SoCal Regional

Based on the current map, it looks like we need to charter a boat and head out to sea a few miles

Lifeguard station on OB says 65 like yesterday, but it was much warmer than yesterday. My internal temp guesser says 68.

This is from NOAA. You can look at any of the ones they've got. Looks like Oceanside, Scripps Pier, and San Diego Bay are covered.
