It does.

U-T CEO Denies Threatening Port; New Email Emerges - Voice of San Diego: Economy

"the UT will be forced to lead a campaign to disband the PORT."

What's important here is that the CEO of the paper crossed way over the line, threatening to shut down the port if it didn't agree to give away property so that Manchester could get his wet dream of an entertainment and sports district, complete with a billion dollar monument to socializing costs and privatizing gains.

Lynch later denied sending the email and said that it was altered.

Well, they need to do a better job of preventing hackers from getting into their computers, because it seems like something similar was sent to another person with a similar threat to use the paper to push for shutting down the port.

"We have secured powerful backing to call for the breaking up of the PORT"

If you ever had any doubt about how slimy the new ownership of the Union Tribune and North County Times is, there's your proof.

I was on the fence between Bilbray and Peters. Guess who I'm voting for now.

This just shows the absolute arogance and extremism that the UT has become under Manchesters ownership. It's very shocking to read that email, who in the hell do they think they are!? Thank god for the people controlling the port not giving in to Manchester's/Lynch insane idelogies and threats, and reconizing that a busy moving port, is a strong port.

They'd rather eliminate healthy high paying jobs, and replace them with low sector jobs in the hotel and tourism industry These guys are only looking out for themselves, they need to leave the Tenth ave marine terminal alone as it's very important part of our cities history, and once it's messed with and disbanded, you can never make it come back.

I hope the UT fails big time, and Manchester loses tons of money off lower readership counts. They have decided to alienate the majority of San Diegan's, and it will eventually backfire. Nothing is balanced, nor fair when reading the UT, I understand their views, but to hear how these guys are going after people in our local government that don't agree with Manchesters/Lynch wants and needs, is shameful and disrepectful..
