I've noticed increasing contrails in the southeastern sky, often appearing vertically directed, including in the monring. Any idea of specific source(s)?

I've actually noticed it in the southeastern sky as well, and I've seen a lot of vertical ones north toward OC/LA. I know that colder air temperature increases the visibility of contrails, so that might explain why there have been more of them, especially since you're saying you're seeing them in the morning.

You've been seeing more of them because Obama won a second term and that secret Kenyan Muslim is out to impose Sharia law on us. And the chemtrails you see are just one of the evil things he's planning to do in order to achieve his goal.

The weather conditions we've been having (and that frequently occur in he winter- as in, if it's not raining it's quite dry and the upper atmosphere is quite cold) are conducive to contrails. There's not more activity per se, they're just more visible in general this time of year. I love seeing them on winter mornings on my drive to work

I've noticed quite a few the last week, and they are alot "wider" than the usual ones we would see. I don't believe these are from your garden variety airplanes. I hear alot of military jet activity over UTC area lately.
