Hi everyone, I will be attending USC at the San Diego Academic Center for my MSW starting in August. I am looking for an apartment in San Diego that is located close or within a short commuting distance to Rancho Bernardo where the center is located. I am 28 years old. What would you suggest? Also, does anyone have any suggestions of apartment complexes? In my search many of them have bad reviews.

Thank you!

How short of a commuting distance? 5-10 minutes?

Also, even the best apartment complexes get mostly bad reviews. People love to write positive reviews about newly found restaurants and bars. But the same people seldom write anything about their apartment complex unless they've had a bad experience. There have been several discussions here on c-d about all the poor apartment reviews.

Yes 5 - 10 minutes. I am too concerned about reviews or what not. My main concern is the rent price. I am not looking for something too expensive and as long as it has all the amenities that is fine with me.

Forget about an apartment, you won't find anything for that. You may be able to rent a room, though.

ditto

There are lots of large homes in that area. A shared room should be easy to find.

Here's an example: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/roo/3713505225.html

People don't normally post pictures of rooms for rent.
