When we moved here from Dallas, we took I-10 to Hwy 8. So I would suggest the reverse of that. Once in Texas, it really depends where in the DFW Metroplex you're headed as to the best route.

This^^^
Take I-8 to The I-10 East(I-8 turns into the I-10 around Tucson Arizona)
Take I-10 East till you get to the I-20 East(I-10 connects to the I-20 east as you enter Texas)
Take The I-20 east though Texas to The I-30 east.
The 1-30 east Takes you into Dallas/Ft worth area of Texas.
With a partner you're looking at 2 days tops.
