Is Chula Vista a bad part of San Diego? I've been looking for houses on Trulia and there are a lot of good looking houses there around 300K. Should I stay away??

That is nowhere near Chula Vista.

Allied Gardens is a neighborhood in the City of San Diego. Older community and the zip code is shared with another neighborhood called Del Cerro.

The Del Cerro portion of the zip code was typically known as the more expensive of the two with nicer housing stock.

Not sure what you saw there that was around 300k that was decent for a SFH as most of the move in ready homes are usually in the high 4s at the very least. Townhomes and Condos yes, you can find in that range of 300k.

If you are talking about listed price vs sold, thats whole other ballgame. You will see listed prices for distressed sales such as this one, but they are more teaser rates. In San Diego, there are all kinds of shoppers for homes out there now from the investor to the all cash buyer with no stone unturned.

You need to look at comparable sales to give you a good gauge what a house might sell for.

That's in Winding Walk, in Otay Ranch. I think that's one of the Cottage Lane areas of Winding Walk - in any case, nice development but be aware that there is two HOA's that you'd be required to pay into - the master and Cottage Lanes. So as much as $350 a much between the two.
