Oklahoma. I mean there is the bus but it would take all day to get somewhere and they stop running really early

Your options are pretty open, so you'll have a lot of choices. These areas will have good schools in your price range: Scripps Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos, Mira Mesa, Carmel Mt., Eastlake part of Chula Vista... There are many more. It also depends on how big you want the house and how high up you want in term of school's API score. Carmel Valley will be your cream of the crop for schools. But you'll be paying for it.

A lot of young families are living in Clairemont/Bay Park area. I am not sure what the school API scores are in this area. You can find a 3-4 bedroom house for your budget here, but if you go to La Jolla, Carmel Valley, Scripps Ranch; then you can probably get a townhouse for that budget. When I was house hunting, I looked at a 2 bedroom townhouse in Carmel Mountain for $1900 a month, so that gives you an idea!
