Balboa Park. You can't visit SD and not see Balboa Park. Balboa Park | A landscape of Arts and Culture

www.sandiego.org will give you a lot of info.

Beaches: For beauty/hiking -- Torrey Pines State Preserve; for sunbathing/swimming -- Coronado

Parks: Balboa Park. And the world-class San Diego Zoo (located within the park) is a must-see for any visitor to SD.

High hills with good views: Cabrillo National Monument near Point Loma.

Also recommend taking an afternoon or evening stroll through the gaslamp district downtown and visiting one of the beach towns like Pacific Beach, La Jolla, or Encinitas (depending on your style).

When in SD, I love:

1/ Gaslamp Quarter and Downtown
2/ Balboa Park
3/ Going north to Carlsbad to visit the Flower Fields (when in season)
4/ La Jolla
5/ SD Zoo
6/ Seaworld
