Hello,

We are a family of four, 2 kids (8yr & 5yr) and will be relocating to Chula Vista, CA this summer, we are evaluating a few schools (we have some housing options) and are interested in knowing opinions and experiences on the following ones:

- Veterans Elementary School
- Heritage Elementary School
- Marshall Elementary School
- Arroyo Vista Charter School

We appreciate if you could share your opinions in the academic rigor; health orientation (cafeteria food selection); social balance (anti-bullying responsible); GATE program participation, etc.

Thank you!

Thanks for the tip BUT: I already checked all the stats and number of greatschool.con & schooldigger.com. When we bought our house where we live now, the school we choose had great numbers and test scores etc. but when we actually attended the feeling of the school was cold and 100% oriented in testing and for example they said they had a GATE program but it turn out to be more repetition work for the kid and not a challenging type of work. That type of info only comes from people that has already attends the school, and that is what I’m looking for.

Our grandson attended Veterans and really liked it and although we moved him to a Charter School, it was not due to anything wrong with the school. As a matter of fact Veterans has an language immersion program like the Charter he attends now. The admin and staff were very attentive and professional and the parents are very involved.

You can try going on facebook and looking for the school/pta related groups. It helps to see their posts to get a feel for the schools, and you can sometimes post questions yourself.
