I need to find a local dealer of electronics parts such as capacitors. I know of a few in San Diego but work is in Oceanside and I often need these parts right away so I cant wait to buy them online. Seems like the brick and mortar stores are almost a thing of the past.

I know. There used to be an awesome place in Kearny Mesa, but they've closed. There's still one down in (I think) National City, but I can't remember their name. We go to Fry's for electronics parts. Once in a blue moon, we'll go to Radio Shack.

Fry's sucks, always out of stock on what you need. The only place I know of is down in Kearny Mesa, and that's Willy's Electronics. Radio shack isn't even on the map as far as components go.

When Gateway closed, I thought there weren't any more good options. Thanks for the mention of Willy's. And there's also this place: Welcome to San Diego Electronic Supply - Your First Stop For Electronic Components Since 2006

Really? Go find some toroids for me, some DPDT switches, embossed switch labels, a decent cap selection or anything unusual or even halfway common. I mean...come on? No toroids? None? Really?

LED's? yeah, sure, those they have.

Oh, and to the other poster...thanks for the San Diego Elect lead, I'll have to swing by them.

Oh...and one more thing to the OP - if you're looking for weird stuff, milspec RF stuff etc, try Murphy's down in EC. Also try Industrial Liquidators. They used to be in San Mucus, but dropped their store a while back. Now I think their main place is off of Convoy in KM.

San Diego electronic supply and San Diego Electric Inc are both great places.

Fry's used to carry many of those components, like maybe 10 years ago. I don't think they do anymore.
