Have arrived! Love this town. Here for 3 years! Woo Hoo!

Anyway. Have been searching furiously for a house and car. In Temp accom in Coronado for a month or so. Lovely town.

Have been searching craigslist for cars. Was Thinking of going down to National City Blvd to check out second hand dealers.

Looking for 7 or 8 seater SUV (Volvo XC90, Nissan Pathfinder, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Armada, Toyota Highlander etc).

Probably 2005/2006 model. Moderate to low kms etc.

Any ideas/advice?

TIA

CarMax. Seriously. Five days to return it, plus 30-day limited warranty. That, or I'd go the certified pre-owned route with the most reputable brands, such as Lexus.

This ^^^
Toyota Highlander/4 Runner,Nissan xterra,GMC Envoy,Chevy Tahoe(my choice)
Stay away from Volvo XC90(Transmission Problems) the Nissan armada and almost anything from Chrysler Corp.
Craigslist San Diego section is not bad either. You need to Do your Homework.
Good Luck

Xterras don't get good mileage - around 15 mpg. They seem to be made for towing light trailers. Everything else with any tow capability is massive.

They do get terrible gas mileage for a SUV in its class,But the Xterra is reliable and a bullet proof vehicle.About only one of 2 vehicles i would buy from Nissan corp in the Truck/SUV category, The Frontier truck is the other.

I'm driving a 1994 Chevy Astrovan with close to 205,000 miles on it, and I paid cash for it, also.

Since your from Australia which is the land for 4x4s, I'd recommend either the highlander or the montero (what you guys call down there the "pajero", which left the US after 06) which is solid and you can find some good deals for less the $10k.

Toyota changed the body style of the new Highlander in 2007 to the larger model with the better third row. If you go Highlander, I'd recommend 2007 or newer.

I drove a 2011 Pathfinder for a rental car one time. Kind of truck-like but not a bad SUV overall. Comfy and not too large. Got about 23 MPG's with it too.

Does the Subaru B-9 Tribeca have three rows of seats?
