Hey everyone,

So I will be going to school in Rancho Bernardo and looking for something near by to live at. I heard that even though Escondido is pretty close by the commute might be terrible... What are some of the affordable close by areas and how long is the commute?

thx

Define affordable. You could probably get a 1 bedroom apt for 1000-1200 in RB or find a roomie to make it more affordable.

If you commute during rush hour, it will most likely be bad. The 1-15 freeway north out of RB is usually jammed during the afternoon rush hour. Mornings are not quite so bad.

if you're trying to ease on the traffic/commute and make it cheaper you may look into areas slightly south or RB, such as:
Poway (not many rentals there)
Scripps Ranch (about 10-15 miles south... may seem long off, but you want to go the opposite way of the "natural" commute)
Rancho Penasquitos (5-10 mils south of RB)
just an idea...
I travel from Rancho Bernardo to the college area (where I-15 & I-8 intersect) and going north just gets worse and worse between 3-7pm, and going wouth is usually at a standstill between 6-8am in escondido.
BUT RB can get expensive
